1987

The work began.

David steps into his role at the Chelmsford Housing Authority, marking the start of a career dedicated to reimagining what affordable housing can be.

2000

We noticed what others missed.

At the Chelmsford Housing Authority, we witnessed too many elders losing their homes, not because of finances but because of loneliness and lack of support. So we created a brand-new role to advocate, coordinate care, and help people stay in their homes.

2001

We connected the dots.

We realized other families faced similar challenges—instability, isolation, and systems that didn’t ﬁt their needs. So we brought elder care and family self-sufficiency programs under one roof, and formed CHOICE, a nonproﬁt created to serve whole communities with care.

2001

We started by saying yes.

A beauty salon in a housing complex? Sounds great. Yoga classes and wellness clinics? Absolutely. A transportation service built from scratch? Together with the communities’ supportive service providers, we turned big ideas into daily support systems that residents wanted and needed.

2009

We built it ourselves.

When we went out to bid for a new facility, we were told that it was too ambitious, and we were too small. We did it anyway, and The CHOICE Center was born: 37 homes, designed with community and built with care.

Today

We’re still growing.

Now an independent nonproﬁt, Choice Housing is expanding across Massachusetts. Big things are happening, but some things remain the same: we’re still listening, showing up, and building with compassion.
